Tree Plantation Camp:
A tree plantation program was organized at Dawla Meti, a
village in the peripheral area of Nagpur city. This
programmed was organized in collaboration with AROHA wherein
the women from the local Self-Help Groups were distributed
saplings and were also given inputs by Mr.Gawande on the
advantages and uses of the various trees. This event was
attended by Ms.Maya Ivnate, Mayor of Nagpur city.
Xavier’s Bag Green Fingers Award:
St. Xavier’s High School came out victorious to show great
dedication towards environment awareness and bagged Green
Fingers Award given by HIRWAI.
It is the first major event undertaken by HIRWAI the focus
was on involving children in becoming part of the
realization of the need to grow trees in a city fast
depleting this very vital natural resource. About -----
children from 132 schools participated in the four months
process of cultivating, monitoring and observing the growth
of seedlings and saplings that they had planted. The
documentation of the growth of the sprouts into plants was
an integral part of the project that had been undertaken by
all levels of school going children.
